As many of you know, Adobe MAX 2009 is happening in Los Angeles from Oct 4th – 7th. I can not believe this already my 8th MAX!!!
This year I will co-present with fellow evangelist Miti Pricope one of the BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) labs. In this 90-min, fun, hands-on lab attendees bring their own hardware with all the necessary software preinstalled.
Our particular BYOL is called “Data-Centric Development with Flash Buider 4″. In this lab we’ll discuss how to create services based on Java, PHP, ColdFusion, REST, and SOAP, all represented in a common, consistent model, using the new DCD features in FB 4. Beyond the basics of data connectivity, we’ll also explore advanced data-driven development, adding functionality like paging through large record sets, client-side data management, and more. This in-depth, hands-on session is a must for anyone creating enterprise applications with Flex.
Be sure to check and use the Adobe MAX scheduler to choose the correct date and time of your choice (there will be two identical sessions of this BYOL).
And if you have not registered yet, please take a look at the following two entries from Andrew Shorten and Serge Jespers. There are great discounts available!!!
See you all there!!!

You guys did a great job with the BYOL. I noticed that in my finished application there was no linkage between the results page and the video player state. Since this was not in the instructions provided I wondered if you might post the instructions for this linkage. Thanks in advance. Chris Bass.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for coming to the lab and glad and you liked it. We were thinking of leaving that part for you guys to do as optional, but we can provide guidelines on how to get there.
It’s really as simple as replacing the Bitmap image with a VideoPlayer control, and then add an event to the List control so when you select an Item (a video on the result page ) the application changes to the Video state and sets the VideoPlayer source property with the correct URL
I will try to get some more detailed version in the next few days
Thanks!!!
